About

Our Story

Luckywebs began long before the world had heard of COVID. Back in 2012, when Google opened its Campus in Old Street, our founder, Mo Rafi, was there most weeks, running workshops and teaching people how to build websites their own way. At the time that meant WordPress, and a room full of small business owners learning to take real control of their corner of the web. The pages from that era are preserved in our archive: the original WordPress training page is still readable as it was first published, and our press page keeps the full list.

Over the decade that followed, the tools changed beyond recognition. As AI matured, we saw something a lot of people missed: it was not only a way to write a bit of copy, it was a way to build. AI could create websites, add genuine functionality, power small web applications, and slot neatly into the systems a business already runs on day to day.

The part that excited us most was the choice it opened up. All of this can be built for a client, or taught to them, so the knowledge and the capability stay inside the business rather than walking out of the door with an agency.

Putting capability back in your hands

That idea, handing real capability back to the clients we work with, is still what drives us. We go into it properly on the Leadership page, but the short version is simple: our aim is to empower the client.

Of course, not everyone wants to be hands-on, and that is completely fine. Plenty of the businesses we work with would rather we quietly get on with the digital marketing while they focus on running their company. Others want to learn, build and own more of it themselves. We are glad to work either way. What matters is that the work keeps moving your business forward.
