The accuranker vs ahrefs question comes up constantly in agency circles, and it usually misses a third option that sits between them on price. We are Luckywebs, a London SEO agency, and this comparison sticks to specs you can verify on each vendor’s site: update frequency, local and mobile tracking, SERP features, APIs and current pricing.
What is the short answer?
AccuRanker is the fastest dedicated rank tracker of the three, with daily updates plus on-demand refreshes. Ahrefs is an all-in-one SEO suite whose Rank Tracker updates weekly by default on every plan. SE Ranking is the mid-priced all-rounder: daily rank checks on every plan, plus audit, keyword and backlink tools included.
Rank tracking, for clarity, is the automated monitoring of where your pages appear in search results for a defined set of keywords, locations and devices. How often that check runs is the single biggest difference between these three tools.
How do AccuRanker vs Ahrefs vs SE Ranking compare at a glance?
AccuRanker vs Ahrefs vs SE Ranking splits cleanly on three axes: AccuRanker wins on update speed, Ahrefs wins on breadth of SEO data, and SE Ranking wins on value per tracked keyword. The table below summarises the specs we verified in July 2026, in the currency each vendor displayed.
| Spec (as of July 2026) | AccuRanker | Ahrefs | SE Ranking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tool type | Dedicated rank tracker | All-in-one SEO suite | All-in-one SEO suite |
| Default update frequency | Daily, plus on-demand refresh | Weekly on all plans | Daily on all plans |
| Entry plan price | $224/month (about £165) (Professional) | $129/month (about £95) (Lite) | £95/month, or £76/month billed annually (Core) |
| Tracked keywords at entry | 2,000 | 750 | 2,000 |
| Local tracking | Country and local level | Country, city and postcode level, 190+ locations | Country, region and city, plus a local and map tracker |
| Free trial | 14 days | None | 14 days, no credit card (Start Your Free Trial) |
How often does each tool update rankings?
Update frequency is where these tools genuinely differ, so it deserves its own check. AccuRanker refreshes daily and on demand, SE Ranking checks daily, and Ahrefs checks weekly by default on every plan. Those figures come from each vendor’s own site or help centre, checked in July 2026.
AccuRanker states: “We update your data daily to ensure real-time rankings, SERP features, CTRs, and search volumes. You can also update a single keyword whenever you want or your entire domain every two hours.” That on-demand refresh matters when you need to confirm movement straight after a migration or a content change.
Ahrefs is honest about its own limits here. Its help centre says: “With all subscription plans, the default update frequency for the tracked keywords in Rank Tracker is weekly.” Ahrefs is not a dedicated rank tracker; Rank Tracker is one module in a research suite, and the weekly cadence reflects that.
SE Ranking checks positions daily across the top 100 results on Google, Bing and YouTube, on desktop and mobile, on every plan including the entry tier. For most agencies, daily checks at an entry-tier price is the practical middle ground.
How do local and mobile tracking compare?
AccuRanker, Ahrefs and SE Ranking all track desktop and mobile rankings and support location-specific tracking, so none of them fails this test outright. The differences are in granularity and bundling: Ahrefs goes down to postcode level, SE Ranking bundles a dedicated local and map tracker, and AccuRanker segments heavily by device and location.
Ahrefs offers “location tracking. From country, to city, to ZIP code” across 190+ locations, with mobile and desktop tracking listed as standard. AccuRanker tracks “at a local or country level” with granular segmentation and filtering. SE Ranking tracks by country, region or city, and its Core and Growth plans include a Local and Map Rank Tracker with 1,500 keywords for Google Maps visibility, useful for the local service businesses we typically work with.
What SERP features does each tool track?
SERP features are the non-standard results on a search page: featured snippets, local packs, AI Overviews, People Also Ask boxes and similar. AccuRanker, Ahrefs and SE Ranking all track them, and Ahrefs publishes the most explicit list: 19 SERP features, including AI Overviews.
Ahrefs’ published list covers featured snippets, AI Overviews, local packs, sitelinks, image packs, videos, knowledge panels, People Also Ask and ads placements, among others. AccuRanker updates SERP feature data daily alongside rankings and reports visibility through its AI Share of Voice feature. SE Ranking monitors “rich results like featured snippets, knowledge panels, and other Google SERP elements” within its daily checks, and sells an AI Search Toolkit add-on (£69/month, or £55.20/month billed annually).
Share of voice, as all three use the term, is the percentage of available organic visibility (or estimated traffic value) your domain captures across a tracked keyword set.
How do the APIs, reporting and integrations compare?
AccuRanker, Ahrefs and SE Ranking all offer an API and standard agency integrations, but they gate them differently. SE Ranking includes API access on every plan, AccuRanker reserves unlimited read API access for its Expert tier and above, and Ahrefs focuses Rank Tracker reporting on scheduled email updates and alerts.
AccuRanker’s Professional plan includes Google Search Console and Google Analytics integrations plus reporting and export; Expert adds Looker Studio integration and unlimited read API access; Enterprise adds BigQuery, a write API and raw SERP HTML. SE Ranking includes API credits on every plan (25,000/month on Core, 100,000/month on Growth) plus Google Search Console, GA4, Looker Studio and Matomo integrations, historical rank data (six months on Core, all-time on Growth) and an Agency Pack add-on at £49/month billed annually. Ahrefs’ Rank Tracker offers competitor alerts and weekly or monthly update emails; we could not verify its current Rank Tracker API terms from public pages, so we will not guess at them.
What does each tool cost as of July 2026?
As of July 2026, AccuRanker starts at $224/month (about £165), Ahrefs at $129/month (about £95) (or $29/month, about £21, for its cut-down Starter plan), and SE Ranking at £95/month, or £76/month billed annually. AccuRanker and Ahrefs publish prices in USD; SE Ranking’s site displayed GBP pricing when we checked.
| Plan (July 2026) | Price | Tracked keywords |
|---|---|---|
| AccuRanker Professional | $224/month (about £165) (10% off annually) | 2,000 (tiers to 5,000) |
| AccuRanker Expert | $764/month (about £561) (10% off annually) | 10,000 (tiers to 25,000) |
| AccuRanker Enterprise | Custom quote | 25,000+ |
| Ahrefs Starter | $29/month (about £21) (monthly only) | Not a rank-tracking plan |
| Ahrefs Lite | $129/month (about £95) (about $108/month, about £79, annually) | 750 |
| Ahrefs Standard | $249/month (about £183) (about $208/month, about £153, annually) | 2,000 |
| Ahrefs Advanced | $449/month (about £330) (about $374/month, about £275, annually) | 5,000 |
| SE Ranking Core | £95/month, or £76/month billed annually | 2,000, checked daily |
| SE Ranking Growth | £209/month, or £167.20/month billed annually | 5,000, checked daily |
Two pricing notes. Ahrefs offers no free trial as of July 2026; the $29 (about £21) Starter plan is the cheapest paid way to evaluate the suite. SE Ranking’s 14-day trial is fully functional with no credit card, the lowest-friction way to run a real comparison on your own keywords.
Which rank tracker should you choose?
Choose by what you actually need to see, and how often. Daily movement on client keywords points to SE Ranking or AccuRanker; enterprise scale and refresh-on-demand points to AccuRanker; a full research suite where rank tracking is secondary points to Ahrefs.
For agencies with under 20 clients
SE Ranking is the strongest fit. Daily checks on 2,000 keywords at £76/month billed annually undercuts both rivals, the Core plan includes 10 projects, API access and Search Console, GA4 and Looker Studio integrations, and the local and map tracker covers service-area clients. Test it against your current tracker on the free 14-day trial: Start Your Free Trial
For enterprise rank tracking at scale
AccuRanker is the specialist choice. It does one job, does it daily, and lets you refresh a single keyword whenever you want or an entire domain every two hours. The Expert and Enterprise tiers add unlimited read API access, BigQuery and raw SERP HTML for teams piping rank data into their own warehouse. You pay for that focus: $224/month (about £165) is the entry point, and it does nothing else. Our AccuRanker review covers its pricing tiers, Excel exports and clickstream data in full.
For all-in-one SEO where rank tracking is secondary
Ahrefs remains excellent for backlink analysis, keyword research and site audits, and its Rank Tracker covers 190+ locations and 19 SERP features including AI Overviews. But weekly default updates on every plan make it the wrong primary tool if clients expect daily position data. Keep it for research; pair it with a daily tracker.
How does Luckywebs approach rank tracking for clients?
Luckywebs works with clients in home improvement trades, law and e-commerce, and we treat daily rank data as non-negotiable for money keywords. Weekly snapshots hide the exact day a position moved, which makes it much harder to tie a drop or a gain to a specific change, algorithm update or competitor move.
We plan to run all three tools side by side on a shared keyword set using their trials, and we will update this page with the results.
Still comparing AccuRanker, Ahrefs and SE Ranking?
The honest summary: AccuRanker for speed and scale, SE Ranking for daily tracking at a sensible price with a full toolkit attached, Ahrefs for research depth with rank tracking as a bonus. If you are still building a shortlist, our SEO tools hub collects all our reviews and head-to-heads in one place. The questions below cover the details that decide most comparisons.
Is AccuRanker better than Ahrefs for rank tracking?
For rank tracking specifically, yes. AccuRanker updates daily and offers on-demand refreshes, while Ahrefs’ Rank Tracker updates weekly by default on every plan, per its own help centre as of July 2026. Ahrefs is the broader SEO suite; AccuRanker is the better dedicated tracker.
How often does Ahrefs update keyword rankings?
Weekly, by default, on all subscription plans. Ahrefs’ help centre states: “With all subscription plans, the default update frequency for the tracked keywords in Rank Tracker is weekly.” If you need daily position data, pick a tool that checks daily.
Does SE Ranking check rankings daily?
Yes. SE Ranking checks positions daily across the top 100 results on Google, Bing and YouTube, for desktop and mobile, on every plan including Core. Historical rank data covers six months on Core and all-time on Growth, as of July 2026.
Which tool is cheapest for tracking 2,000 keywords?
SE Ranking. Its Core plan tracks 2,000 keywords with daily checks from £76/month billed annually (£95 billed monthly). Ahrefs Standard tracks 2,000 keywords for $249/month (about £183) with weekly updates. AccuRanker Professional tracks 2,000 for $224/month (about £165) with daily updates. Prices as of July 2026.
Do any of these tools track AI Overviews?
Ahrefs explicitly lists AI Overviews among the 19 SERP features its Rank Tracker monitors. AccuRanker tracks SERP features daily and offers an AI Share of Voice metric. SE Ranking monitors featured snippets, knowledge panels and other SERP elements, and sells a separate AI Search Toolkit add-on.
Can I try all three before paying?
Mostly. AccuRanker offers a 14-day free trial. SE Ranking offers a fully functional 14-day trial with no credit card required: Start Your Free Trial. Ahrefs offers no free trial as of July 2026; its $29/month (about £21) Starter plan is the cheapest way in, though it is not a rank-tracking plan.
Do these tools track mobile rankings separately from desktop?
Yes, all three. Ahrefs lists mobile and desktop tracking as standard in Rank Tracker. SE Ranking checks desktop and mobile daily and reports them separately. AccuRanker supports device-level segmentation alongside its location and language filters.
