The Semrush free trial gives you seven days of full access to one Semrush plan, and it needs a credit card to start. As of July 2026, the free Semrush trial runs for seven days on the current plans (SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced), all on semrush.com. Your card is not charged during the trial, but the account converts to paid automatically at the end of day seven unless you cancel first. There is no 30-day or 14-day offer on the standard signup any more. We are Luckywebs, a UK SEO and web agency based in London, and this page sets out what the trial includes, how to start it, and how to cancel cleanly.

What does the Semrush free trial include in 2026?

The Semrush free trial gives you the tools and limits of whichever plan you select, for seven days, at no charge. Pick the Pro+ trial and you work inside a Pro+ account; pick SEO and you get the SEO plan’s allowances. Keyword research, rank tracking, site audits, competitor analysis, backlink data and the AI visibility features all open up to the level your chosen plan permits (verified against semrush.com, July 2026).

One honest limit: data exports are disabled during the trial period, even where the paid plan would allow them. You can read everything on screen, but you cannot pull it to CSV or PDF until you subscribe. That matters if you planned to run an audit and hand the file to a client inside the free window.

How long is the Semrush free trial and do you need a card?

The standard Semrush free trial is seven days and does require a credit card, confirmed on semrush.com in July 2026 (“Try Semrush free for seven days. Cancel anytime.”). The semrush trial credit card requirement is not optional on the official signup: you enter billing details before the trial starts, Semrush places a temporary $1 (about £1) authorisation (or the local currency equivalent) to check the card is real, and nothing is billed unless the trial rolls into a paid subscription.

Some affiliate and partner pages still advertise a 14-day Semrush trial. Treat that with caution: the length shown on the actual signup screen governs your account, so read it before entering card details. If a card-free evaluation is a hard requirement, SE Ranking runs a 14-day trial with no card, covered in our SE Ranking review.

How do you start a Semrush free trial?

Starting the trial takes a few minutes. Follow these steps on semrush.com (accurate as of July 2026):

  1. Go to semrush.com, choose a plan, and click Try For Free.
  2. Create a free Semrush account with your email and a password, or sign in with Google.
  3. Confirm the plan you are trialling (SEO, Starter, Pro+ or Advanced) and the billing cycle shown.
  4. Enter your credit card details. This is required to begin the 7-day trial; expect a temporary $1 (about £1) authorisation, not a charge.
  5. Submit. Your account opens immediately with full access to that plan.
  6. Set a calendar reminder for day six so you can decide to keep or cancel before billing.

That last step is the one people skip and regret: the trial converts on its own, so the reminder is your safeguard.

What does each plan’s trial include?

Because the trial mirrors the plan you pick, trial the plan you would actually buy. The table shows the current plans and the limits your trial inherits (verified on semrush.com, July 2026; prices are USD and exclude local VAT, so a UK card may pay more).

PlanMonthlyAnnual (per month)ProjectsKeywords trackedNotable inclusions
SEO$139 (about £102)$117.33 (about £86)5500Core toolkits, basic AI visibility
Starter$199 (about £146)$165.17 (about £121)550050 AI prompts a day, MCP access
Pro+$299 (about £220)$248.17 (about £182)151,500100 prompts a day, historical data, content optimisation
Advanced$549 (about £403)$455.67 (about £335)405,000200 prompts a day, share of voice, API

Extra user seats start at $45 (about £33) a month. Whichever plan you trial, exports stay locked until you pay. Older roundups still quote a legacy “Pro trial” of 500 keywords and 10,000 results per report; that describes the retired Pro plan, not the current lineup.

How do you cancel the Semrush trial before you are charged?

To avoid any charge, cancel before day seven. Semrush cancellation runs through a form, not a single button, so give yourself margin. These are the exact steps (semrush.com help centre, July 2026):

  1. Log in to Semrush and click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Subscription info from the menu.
  3. Under Recurring, click the Active link.
  4. Follow the Contact us link through to the cancellation form.
  5. Complete the short form (it asks your reason across a couple of prompts) and submit it.
  6. Open the confirmation email and click its link within 24 hours to finalise the request.
  7. Wait for the final confirmation email from Semrush support.

Semrush confirms cancellation within three business days of a properly submitted request, so start the process at least two or three days before day seven, not in the final hour.

What happens after the Semrush trial ends?

If you do nothing, the account converts to the plan you chose and your card is charged the standard rate on day eight, then billed monthly or annually as selected. Exports become available at that point. Note that Semrush offers the trial once per customer: a second signup attempt goes straight to a paid plan and is charged accordingly (semrush.com billing FAQ, July 2026).

The refund rules are your real safety net. Semrush offers a one-time, 7-day money-back guarantee, but only on annual subscriptions of twelve months or longer, requested within seven calendar days of the charge (semrush.com refund policy, July 2026). Monthly subscriptions are excluded from refunds. So an annual plan gives you the trial plus a further 7-day money-back window; a monthly plan gives you the trial and nothing after. If you are only evaluating, cancel inside the trial rather than banking on a refund you may not qualify for.

What about the “30 days”, “Pro” and “Guru” trials people still search for?

Plenty of people search for a Semrush 30 days offer, a Semrush Pro 30 days deal or a Semrush Guru trial. The honest position for July 2026: none is the current standard offer. Semrush ran longer promotional trials in past years, and affiliate pages historically advertised 14-day Guru trials, which is why the searches persist. The live signup on semrush.com is seven days.

The plan names have moved on too. The classic Pro, Guru and Business tiers have been retired from open sale and replaced by SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced (semrush.com pricing page, July 2026). The old names still crop up in older help articles and third-party guides, but you cannot buy a fresh Guru plan or claim a Guru trial today. On the current lineup, API data integration sits on the Advanced plan. Trial the current plan closest to your needs instead.

Is the Semrush trial worth it, or should you look first?

The trial is worth it if Semrush is already on your shortlist and you want to pressure-test one plan against real projects. Seven days is enough to run a site audit, load a competitor set and watch a few days of rank tracking, provided you accept that you cannot export anything until you pay.

As an agency, we plan the week before any tool trial: audit first, then competitor research, then rank tracking across the rest. That discipline sits behind results we publish for clients, such as +40% enquiries for Circa London and +60% leads for RakLAW, where competitor and ranking research fed the wider SEO programme rather than any single tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Semrush free trial really free?

Yes, for seven days, provided you cancel before it ends. You get full access to your chosen plan at no charge, with exports disabled. If you do not cancel, it converts to a paid subscription and bills your card on day eight (semrush.com, July 2026).

Does the Semrush trial require a credit card?

Yes. The official signup asks for card details before the trial begins, and Semrush places a temporary $1 (about £1) authorisation (or local equivalent) to validate the card. Nothing is charged unless the trial rolls into a paid plan. There is no card-free official trial.

Can I get a 30-day Semrush trial?

Not on the standard signup. Semrush 30 days and Semrush Pro 30 days are legacy searches from older promotions; the current trial is seven days (semrush.com, July 2026). If a page advertises 30 days, verify the length on the signup screen first.

What happened to the Semrush Guru trial?

The Guru plan has been retired from open sale, replaced by SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced, so there is no fresh Guru trial to claim. Searches for a Semrush Guru trial usually surface out-of-date affiliate pages. Trial Pro+ for the closest equivalent to the old Guru feature set.

Will I be charged after the 7 days?

Yes, unless you cancel first. The trial converts to your selected plan and bills at the standard rate on day eight. Monthly plans carry no refund; annual plans of twelve months or longer have a one-time, 7-day money-back guarantee (semrush.com refund policy, July 2026).

Is there a Semrush free plan without a trial?

Semrush offers a limited free account for some tools, but the full toolkits sit behind the paid plans and the 7-day trial. For an ongoing card-free evaluation, SE Ranking runs a 14-day no-card trial, covered in our SE Ranking review.
