Semrush vs Ubersuggest compared on price, data depth and features, with an honest verdict on when the cheaper tool is genuinely enough.

Semrush vs Ubersuggest is really a question about ceilings. Ubersuggest costs $29 (about £21) a month (or a one-time lifetime payment, about which more below) and is genuinely decent for one small site: keyword ideas, basic rank tracking, a simple audit. Semrush starts at $139 (about £102) a month ($117.33, about £86, on annual billing, as of July 2026) and wins the moment you need serious competitor data, backlink depth, bigger limits or AI search tracking. Our short answer at Luckywebs: start on Ubersuggest if money is tight and your needs are simple, but plan your exit, because most growing sites hit its walls within a year. This page maps exactly where those walls are.
How do Semrush and Ubersuggest compare at a glance?
The table below compares Ubersuggest’s entry plan with Semrush’s entry plan on the points that actually decide the purchase. Prices and limits were checked in July 2026: Ubersuggest figures come from the vendor pricing page at app.neilpatel.com and the vendor help centre, Semrush figures from semrush.com. Ubersuggest’s lifetime prices are hidden behind its app checkout, so we source those from third-party 2026 roundups and label them accordingly. The short version of the table: you give up data depth, project capacity and AI search tracking for a saving of roughly $110 (about £81) a month, and whether that trade makes sense depends on how many sites you run and how competitive your niche is. The sections below take each row in turn.
| Factor (as of July 2026) | Ubersuggest Individual | Semrush SEO plan |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $29 (about £21) | $139 (about £102) ($117.33/mo, about £86, billed annually) |
| Lifetime deal | Yes: ~$290 (about £213) one-time (third-party sourced; vendor page confirms lifetime access exists but hides tier prices) | None |
| Free tier | Yes (very limited; 25 tracked keywords per project) | Yes ($0 free plan) |
| Free trial | 7 days, one-time, monthly plans only | 7 days, card required |
| Daily searches/reports | 150 | Not the practical bottleneck at this tier |
| Tracked keywords | 125 across 1 project | 500 across 5 projects |
| Backlink data | Up to 2,000 rows per report (vendor help centre) | 43 trillion link index (vendor claim) |
| Site audit | 1,000 pages per week | 140+ checks; JavaScript rendering on higher tiers |
| AI search visibility | Nothing comparable advertised on the pricing page | Basic AI visibility included; full AI Toolkit is a paid add-on |
| Lifetime refunds | ”Final and non-refundable” (vendor terms) | n/a |

What are Ubersuggest’s current plans and limits?
Ubersuggest sells three tiers, and the differences are almost entirely limits rather than features. As of July 2026 the vendor pricing page shows Individual at $29 (about £21) a month, Business at $59 (about £43) and Enterprise at $99 (about £73) (the page itself quotes a US$29 to US$99 range), each with a one-time 7-day free trial on monthly billing and extra user seats at $5 (about £4) a month. Note that many older roundups still quote $49 for the middle tier; the vendor page now says $59, which is a useful reminder to check prices at source. The vendor help centre adds backlink export caps of 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 rows per report respectively. Ubersuggest also sells lifetime versions of these tiers, covered in the lifetime deal section below. Every limit in this table is the wall you will eventually hit, so read it as a forecast, not small print.
| Limit (vendor, July 2026) | Individual $29/mo (about £21) | Business $59/mo (about £43) | Enterprise $99/mo (about £73) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily searches/reports | 150 | 300 | 900 |
| Projects (domains) | 1 | 7 | 15 |
| Tracked keywords | 125 | 150 | 300 |
| Site audit pages/week | 1,000 | 5,000 | 10,000 |
| Keyword suggestions/month | 20,000 | 50,000 | 100,000 |
| Competitors tracked | 5 | 10 | 15 |
What does the Semrush vs Ubersuggest price gap actually buy?
The Semrush vs Ubersuggest price gap (roughly $88, about £65, to $110, about £81, a month at entry level) buys data depth, not badge prestige. Semrush claims a 43 trillion link backlink index; Ubersuggest caps backlink reports at 2,000 rows on its entry plan, which for competitive niches means you see a sample, not the picture. Semrush Site Audit runs 140+ checks, and its higher tiers add JavaScript rendering to catch problems on modern JS-heavy sites that simpler crawlers miss. Semrush’s entry plan includes basic AI visibility features, with the full AI Toolkit (which tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode mention your brand) sold as a paid add-on; Ubersuggest advertises nothing comparable as of July 2026. Depth matters commercially: the competitor gap analysis behind our client TWF’s 44% revenue growth simply is not possible on a five-competitor cap. Our Semrush review covers how we weigh these features, and our testing methodology explains the scoring.

Is the Ubersuggest lifetime deal worth it?
Wondering whether the Ubersuggest lifetime deal is worth it comes down to simple payback maths plus one risk judgement. Third-party 2026 roundups put the Individual lifetime at about $290 (about £213) one-time (roughly ten months of the $29, about £21, monthly plan); the vendor page confirms lifetime access exists but keeps exact tier prices behind checkout, and its terms state lifetime purchases are “final and non-refundable”. So the deal is genuinely good value if three things are true: you run one small, stable site; the Individual limits (150 searches a day, 125 tracked keywords) comfortably cover you; and you expect to keep doing SEO for a year or more. Pay once, and month eleven onwards is free. The risk you accept is product risk: you are betting the tool still fits your needs, and still exists in its current form, years from now, with no refund if it does not. For a hobby site or a single local business, that bet is often fine.
Is Ubersuggest good, or just cheap?
Ubersuggest is good at the specific job it was built for: giving beginners usable keyword and audit data without a three-figure subscription. It is not a stripped-down Semrush; it is a different class of tool, and judging it fairly means naming both sides.
Pros:
- Genuinely cheap: $29 (about £21) a month, with a lifetime option nothing else mainstream offers
- Simple interface a complete beginner can navigate on day one
- Covers the basics: keyword ideas, rank tracking, site audit, basic backlink data
- Free tier and a 7-day trial to test before paying
Cons:
- Hard limits arrive fast: 150 searches a day and 125 tracked keywords on Individual
- Backlink and competitor data is shallow next to Semrush’s index
- One project on the entry plan rules out client work
- No AI search visibility tracking advertised as of July 2026
- Lifetime purchases are non-refundable

When should you upgrade from Ubersuggest?
Treat upgrading from Ubersuggest as a checklist rather than a feeling: run the boxes below quarterly; tick three or more and the cheap tool is costing you more than the expensive one would. The most common trigger is the second site or the first client, because the entry plan tracks exactly one project; the next is rationing daily searches mid-research, which our Semrush keyword research walkthrough argues should be expansive, not rationed.
- You hit the 150-searches-a-day cap during normal research sessions
- You need more than 125 tracked keywords (check against our rank tracking guide)
- You manage more than one site or any client sites
- Backlink reports feel thin next to what competitors clearly have
- Your site audit exceeds 1,000 pages a week or needs JavaScript rendering
- You need to know how AI assistants describe your brand
- You are producing client reports and rebuilding them by hand each month
Which Ubersuggest alternative fits your budget?
The right Ubersuggest alternative depends on the monthly number you can defend, so here are our verdicts by budget, prices as of July 2026. Under $30 (about £22): stay on Ubersuggest, or consider Mangools at $29.90 (about £22) a month on annual billing ($49, about £36, monthly, third-party sourced) for nicer keyword data with similar ceilings. Around £76 to £95: SE Ranking is the middle path we recommend most often, with Core at £95 a month (£76 on annual billing) and a 14-day trial with no card; it covers roughly 80% of Semrush’s day-to-day use for agencies and serious site owners, as our SE Ranking review and SE Ranking vs Semrush comparison set out. From $117.33 (about £86) a month: Semrush, full stop. Spending nothing at all? Start with our best free SEO tools list, and see the wider field in our Semrush alternatives guide.

How do you move from Ubersuggest to Semrush without losing history?
Moving from Ubersuggest to Semrush takes an afternoon if you do it in the right order, and the key is exporting your history before your Ubersuggest billing period ends. Follow this sequence:
- Export your tracked keywords, ranking history and audit reports from Ubersuggest as CSVs while your plan is still active.
- Start the 7-day Semrush trial (card required) so the clock only runs once you are ready.
- Create a Project for your domain, then import your keyword list into Position Tracking so rank history starts accruing from day one.
- Run a full Site Audit and fix the new issues it finds; the 140+ checks usually surface problems Ubersuggest never saw. Our one-hour technical audit guide pairs well here.
- Rebuild your monthly report once in My Reports, then let it schedule itself.
- Only then cancel Ubersuggest, keeping the CSVs as your pre-migration baseline.

Semrush vs Ubersuggest: frequently asked questions
Is Ubersuggest good for beginners?
Yes. For a first site with modest ambitions, Ubersuggest is one of the friendliest starting points: the interface is simple, the price is low and the core jobs (keyword ideas, rank tracking, basic audits) are covered. Just go in knowing the limits, because sites that grow tend to outgrow it within a year.
Is the Ubersuggest lifetime deal worth it in 2026?
For one stable site with simple needs, yes: at roughly $290 (about £213) (third-party sourced, July 2026) it pays for itself in about ten months versus monthly billing. It is a poor fit if you expect to need more limits, more projects or client features, because lifetime purchases are non-refundable under the vendor’s terms.
How much cheaper is Ubersuggest than Semrush?
At entry level, Ubersuggest is $29 (about £21) a month against Semrush’s $139 (about £102) ($117.33, about £86, on annual billing), as of July 2026. That is roughly a quarter of the price for a much smaller dataset and tighter limits. Our Semrush pricing guide breaks down what each Semrush tier adds.
Does Ubersuggest have a free plan?
Yes. The free account gives three searches a day and up to 25 tracked keywords per project with weekly, desktop-only rank updates (vendor help centre, July 2026). It is fine for occasional checks; anyone doing weekly SEO work will want at least the Individual plan or a free alternative stack.
Can you use Ubersuggest and Semrush together?
You can, but there is little reason to. Semrush covers everything Ubersuggest does with deeper data, so paying for both duplicates spend. The sensible combination is sequential: learn on Ubersuggest, then migrate once you tick the upgrade checklist above. Budget-conscious users pairing tools should look at SE Ranking instead.
What sits between Ubersuggest and Semrush on price?
SE Ranking is the middle path: Core costs £95 a month (£76 on annual billing) with a 14-day no-card trial, as of July 2026. It offers far deeper data than Ubersuggest without Semrush’s price. Our SE Ranking review covers where it matches Semrush and where it falls short.
Does Semrush have a free trial?
Yes: 7 days on the paid plans, card required (the no-card wording on semrush.com refers to the separate free $0 plan). Details and the current terms are in our Semrush free trial guide. If you are weighing Semrush against the other premium option, read our Semrush vs Ahrefs comparison first.
