Semrush pricing in 2026: every current plan compared with annual maths, UK cost notes and the cheapest way to get started. Verified July 2026.

Last updated: 8 July 2026

Changelog: first published 8 July 2026 with the current four-plan lineup (SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced) verified against semrush.com. Fact-checked 11 July 2026: legacy plan wording corrected (classic tiers still referenced in Semrush help pages).

Semrush pricing as of July 2026 runs across four core plans, all billed in US dollars: the SEO plan at $139 (about £102) a month, Starter at $199 (about £146), Pro+ at $299 (about £220) and Advanced at $549 (about £403). Pay for a year up front and those rates drop to roughly $117 (about £86), $165 (about £121), $248 (about £182) and $456 (about £335) a month. Every plan comes with a 7-day free trial. The older Pro, Guru and Business tiers no longer appear on Semrush’s public pricing pages, so any guide leading with a “$139.95 Pro plan” is describing the old lineup. Below we break down each plan, the monthly versus annual maths, the cheapest genuine route in, and exactly what UK buyers should expect at the checkout.

What does each Semrush plan cost in 2026?

Here is the full current Semrush lineup, verified on semrush.com as of July 2026. Prices are in US dollars because that is how Semrush bills, whatever your country. The annual column shows the effective monthly rate when you pay for twelve months up front.

PlanMonthly (USD)Annual (USD per month)ProjectsTracked keywordsAI prompts per dayBest suited to
SEO$139 (about £102)$117.33 (about £86)5500Basic AI visibilitySolo SEOs, small sites
Starter$199 (about £146)$165.17 (about £121)550050Teams adding AI search tracking
Pro+$299 (about £220)$248.17 (about £182)151,500100Agencies, multi-site owners
Advanced$549 (about £403)$455.67 (about £335)405,000200Larger in-house teams

The SEO plan is the traditional toolkit: keyword research, position tracking, site audit and backlink data, plus basic AI sentiment monitoring. Starter and above add the AI Visibility Toolkit, daily AI prompt tracking and MCP access. Pro+ unlocks historical data and content optimisation, while Advanced adds share of voice and API access. Is it cheaper to pay Semrush monthly or annually?

Annual billing is the single biggest saving Semrush offers, worth up to 17% versus paying month to month. The table below shows the yearly cost either way, based on the July 2026 rates.

PlanMonthly, per yearAnnual, per yearYou save
SEO$1,668 (about £1,226)$1,408 (about £1,035)~$260 (about £191) (16%)
Starter$2,388 (about £1,755)$1,982 (about £1,456)~$406 (about £298) (17%)
Pro+$3,588 (about £2,637)$2,978 (about £2,188)~$610 (about £448) (17%)
Advanced$6,588 (about £4,841)$5,468 (about £4,018)~$1,120 (about £823) (17%)

Pay annually if: you already know Semrush is part of your workflow and want the lowest rate.

Pay monthly if: you only need the tool for a one-off audit or migration, or you want the freedom to pause. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and cost nothing extra beyond the higher rate.

Our honest take: pay monthly for the first month while you confirm it earns its keep, then switch to annual once you are committed.

What is the cheapest way to get Semrush?

The cheapest genuine route into Semrush is the SEO plan on annual billing at $117.33 (about £86) a month, about $1,408 (about £1,035) for the year. If you are budget-led, follow this order:

  1. Start the 7-day free trial on the plan you are considering. It gives full access so you can test real projects before paying.
  2. Run your priority tasks inside the trial window. A single audit, keyword map or competitor teardown can be done in a few sessions.
  3. If you need Semrush ongoing, take the SEO plan monthly first to confirm the fit.
  4. Switch to annual once you are sure, locking in the ~16% saving.

Be wary of “lifetime deal” and “$1 (about £1) trial” offers from third-party sites: they rarely reflect Semrush’s real terms. If $139 (about £102) a month is more than your budget allows, a lower-cost tool may serve you better. Compare the options in our guide to Semrush alternatives and our SE Ranking review, which covers a capable tool at a fraction of the price.

Which Semrush plan should you pick?

Semrush plan choice comes down to how many sites you manage, how many keywords you track and whether you need AI search visibility. Use this quick decision list:

  • Freelancer or one small site: the SEO plan ($139, about £102) covers 5 projects and 500 keywords, plenty for most single-site work.
  • Small team wanting AI search tracking: Starter ($199, about £146) adds the AI Visibility Toolkit and 50 daily prompts on the same project and keyword limits.
  • Agency or multi-site owner: Pro+ ($299, about £220) triples your projects to 15, lifts keyword tracking to 1,500 and adds historical data and content tools.
  • Large in-house team or heavy data user: Advanced ($549, about £403) gives 40 projects, 5,000 keywords, share of voice and API access.

We run Semrush across our own client programmes, the same work behind results such as Circa London’s 40% rise in enquiries and RakLAW’s 60% lift in leads, and Pro+ is the tier we would point most agencies to. If you mainly need rank tracking, see our best rank tracking software guide for leaner options.

How does Semrush pricing work for UK buyers?

Semrush bills in US dollars from a US company, so UK buyers should plan for three things beyond the sticker price. First, currency: your card issuer converts USD to GBP on the day, and some cards add a foreign transaction fee of up to about 3%. Second, VAT: UK consumers may see 20% VAT added at the checkout, while VAT-registered businesses can usually enter a valid VAT number so it is handled correctly. Third, the exchange rate moves daily, so treat any GBP figure as indicative only.

As of late September 2026 Semrush also shows UK visitors sterling list prices: the SEO plan at £113 a month, or £95.07 a month billed annually. Those are separate list prices, not conversions of the dollar figures above at any exchange rate.

Always confirm the exact charge in your own currency at the Semrush checkout before you commit. Our guide to what Semrush charges in pounds covers the full sterling lineup and the VAT questions it raises.

What is the difference between Semrush One and the SEO Toolkit?

This trips up a lot of buyers, so here is the plain version as of July 2026. The SEO Toolkit is the classic Semrush: the $139 (about £102) SEO plan on its own, covering keyword research, position tracking, site audit and backlinks. Semrush One is the newer, unified subscription that combines the SEO Toolkit with the AI Visibility Toolkit under a single login, so you can see both traditional search rankings and how your brand shows up in AI answers from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Gemini in one place.

In practical terms, the Starter, Pro+ and Advanced plans are the Semrush One track, which is why they carry the bigger daily AI prompt allowances (50 to 200) and MCP access, while the standalone SEO plan sticks to basic AI sentiment and visibility monitoring. If AI search visibility matters to you, that is the line you are paying for. Our guide to GEO and AI rank tracking explains why more teams are budgeting for it.

Why do old guides still list Pro, Guru and Business plans?

If a “Semrush pricing” article quotes a Pro plan at $139.95, a Guru plan at $249.95 or a Business plan at $499.95, it is describing the lineup that came before the current one. As of July 2026 those three classic tiers no longer appear on Semrush’s public pricing pages, which now sell the SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced plans instead. They have not vanished from Semrush’s own documentation, though: the help pages still reference the classic tiers, and the new plans map onto them, with Starter inheriting Pro-level limits, Pro+ inheriting Guru-level limits and Advanced inheriting Business-level limits, then layering the AI visibility features on top.

So the old guides are not inventing plans; they are quoting names Semrush no longer leads with. Many roundups (and even some AI answers) still repeat them because they were copied from older pages and never updated, so check the date on any pricing guide before trusting its numbers.

What add-ons and extra seats cost on Semrush

Beyond the four core plans, Semrush charges separately for a few things worth budgeting for. Extra user seats start at $45 (about £33) a month each (verified on semrush.com as of July 2026), which adds up quickly for larger teams, so factor headcount into your plan choice rather than defaulting to the cheapest tier and bolting seats on.

API access deserves a separate note: the pricing page lists API data integration on the Advanced plan only, and Semrush’s standard API has historically routed through the classic Business tier, so confirm current terms directly with Semrush if data access is your main use case. Semrush has also sold further add-ons over time, such as local listing management and agency-focused tools, priced on top of your base subscription.

For most buyers the base plan and, at most, one or two extra seats is the whole bill. Keep it simple and only add what a live task actually needs.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Semrush cost per month?

Semrush costs from $139 (about £102) a month for the SEO plan, rising to $199 (about £146) for Starter, $299 (about £220) for Pro+ and $549 (about £403) for Advanced, all billed in US dollars as of July 2026. Paying for a full year up front lowers the effective monthly rate to roughly $117 (about £86), $165 (about £121), $248 (about £182) and $456 (about £335) respectively, a saving of up to 17%. UK buyers should add possible VAT and card conversion fees on top of these figures.

Is there a cheaper Semrush plan?

The cheapest paid Semrush plan is the SEO plan at $139 (about £102) a month, or about $117 (about £86) a month on annual billing. There is no hidden lower tier below that. If it is still more than your budget, a capable lower-cost tool may suit you better: our SE Ranking review and Semrush alternatives guide both cover options that cost significantly less while handling core SEO tasks well.

Does Semrush have a free trial?

Yes. As of July 2026, Semrush offers a 7-day free trial on its current plans. You need to enter payment details to start it, and your card is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Semrush also states the trial can only be used once per account. Some third-party partner sites advertise a 14-day trial, but the standard vendor trial is 7 days. Full details are in how the Semrush free trial works.

Can I use Semrush for free forever?

Semrush has a free plan that costs nothing, but it is heavily limited: a single demo project, capped daily searches and no access to the full toolkit. It is useful for a quick look, not for real client work. For ongoing use you will need a paid plan or the 7-day trial. No credit card is required for the free plan itself.

Does Semrush charge VAT for UK customers?

Semrush prices are shown in US dollars and exclude tax. UK consumers may have 20% VAT added at the checkout, while VAT-registered UK businesses can usually enter a valid VAT number so the charge is handled correctly. Because Semrush bills in dollars, your bank also converts to GBP and may add a foreign transaction fee. Always confirm the final amount in your own currency at checkout.

Is Semrush worth the price for a small business?

For a single small site, the $139 (about £102) SEO plan is often more tool than you strictly need, and a leaner rank tracker or a lower-cost alternative may deliver 80% of the value for much less. Semrush earns its price when you manage multiple sites, need deep competitor data, or want SEO and AI search visibility in one place. Our best SEO reporting tools guide can help you match spend to need.

What happened to the Semrush Pro, Guru and Business plans?

Those three tiers (Pro at $139.95, Guru at $249.95 and Business at $499.95) no longer appear on Semrush’s public pricing pages, which as of July 2026 sell the SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced plans instead. Semrush’s own help pages still reference the classic tiers, and the new plans inherit their limits: Starter maps to Pro, Pro+ to Guru and Advanced to Business, with AI visibility features added. Guides quoting the old names are describing the previous lineup, not a current one.
